Seas 27TBFC/G evaluation

Nearfield frequency response-at one inch.

Impedance

Nonlinear distortion

This first series is just 3 toneburst testing in the usual manner.

Second series

Same tests, but with over and underlays of the Seas 27TDFC

This first set shows the same data. But, in the first graph, the TBFC is overlaid in black. Anywhere you see red is excess 27TDFC distortion. The second graph has the TDFC overlaid in black, and the TBFC underlaid in read. Anywhere you see red is excess TBFC distortion. As you can see, it's very close. I don't think you can make a statistical separation based on these.

What about 2k? Here, the trend of more higher order distortion from the TDFC continues. Alone, it's probably not statistically significant, but in context of the other graphs, well, you'll see.

Let's go to 5k. Only one graph is shown, for obvious reasons. The 27TBFC/G is lower across the board. As you would predict from the graphs at 5k and 7k above.

Conclusion

The Seas 27TBFC/G is the new low cost testing champion. It gets this by having notably improved nonlinear distortion numbers higher up in the spectrum while having the same great low end performance. I don't have any detailing linear distortion numbers, but inspection of the nearfield FR curve shows it's probably marginally less linear above 10k, but the magnitude is small.
