Another, not so brief update on the RS28A tweeter variability project.
Brian sent me 6 tweeters to evaluate. I'm showing numbers at 1k, 1.3k, 1.5k, and 2k, as well as FR curves for these six, labeled A-F.
The following graphs are arranged first , by frequency, then, by driver. They start at 1kHz and go up. At each frequency, you'll see six different drivers labeled A-F. Although, for unit B, I skipped some data points.
At 1kHz,
No unit B
Now, at 1.3kHz.
No Unit B
At 1.5kHz,
At 2kHz,
Conclusion
I think that samples A and E are the best, and easily go low. C and D are also good, and usable low. (How low is low? Depends on how loud you play. But I'd try A, C, D, or E between 1.3k and 1.5k. Unit F is fine at and above 1.5k. Unit B is a bit suspect-probably usable at 2k and above. Not up to my standards, though.
